History

We are into our 3rd decade of Excellence in Eye care. December 25th 1992, Christmas Day saw Dr.T.Nirmal Fredrick inaugurate an ophthalmology practice where patients receive the most technologically advanced medical and surgical eye care available, with the personal attention they deserve from a team of caring professionals.

Since then NEC has evolved to fulfil, Dr. Nirmal’s vision, a practice where all the components of state-of-the-art eye care are housed in one convenient facility: a 8500 square-foot, full-service Eye center at 108, Ayyasamy Street, West Tambaram, Chennai 600045, the first state-/ Central Govt. Approved, empanelled, Mediclaim-certified and NABH accredited Eye Surgery facility, devoted exclusively to Eye Care in Tambaram.

Milestones

Life is a great teacher - and only those who learn from it can bear the mantle of changing others lives. One of the biggest gift that life has bestowed upon humanity is the power of Sight. It is this priceless gift that motivated Dr.T.Nirmal Fredrick’s tryst with vision care. An early exposure to the trials and tribulations of visually handicapped people reinforced his decision to join the medical community as an eye specialist.

Driven by a humanitarian vision, Dr.T.Nirmal Fredrick started his practice at Tambaram and also working for the government. After, several years of private practice and government service and an ever growing patient base, Dr.T.Nirmal Fredrick thought it was time to offer his specialist treatments to the patient community on a bigger scale and all modern facilities put under one roof. With that noble aim, Nirmals Eye Hospital was born.

Nirmals Eye Hospital is strategically located at Ayyasamy Street, in the commencial hub of West Tambaram and heart of Tambaram City, just 5 minutes walk from the Bus Stand and Railway station. A modern, fully- integrated Eye Care Centre, NEC earned a pioneering reputation in just a short span of time. It has been credited as the first Centre to offer computerized patient-database in specialized software, the first to have a LAN system with eight terminals functioning and the first such Centre to pioneer live digital recording of eye surgeries.

NEC is an NABH 9001 certified hospital and ranks among one of the few institutions to be equipped with the most advanced instruments to diagnose and treat patients in a holistic manner. The Center is ably led and managed by Dr.T.Nirmal Fredrick and his Ophthalmologist wife and Centre Administrator - Dr. Sunitha Nirmal. While patient consultation are done by Dr.T.Nirmal Fredrick himself and His associates Dr.Sunitha Nirmal and Dr.Gunasekar, he is supported by a 8 visiting Consultants, a well-structured team that's qualified, well-mannered and trained to dive first priority to the patient's well being.

Together, the NEC team work towards fulfilling their higher goal-of "not only improving the eye condition of patients, but also changing their lives- through a well-balanced mix of treatment, after care and much-important patient education". The Hospital regularly imparts Patient Education through educational booklets and brochures on eye diseases and public lectures. lt is this combination of dedication, commitment and concern for eye-patients that has made Nirmals Eye Hospital - a trusted institution, where modern eye care technology & traditional approach with humane care make this a quality service oriented hospital.
